The August Collapse of the Mets

From the start of the season to the All Star Break, I was optimistic about the Mets season. After all, it was only midway through the baseball season and the team had so many games to straighten out the flaws to avoid the September collapse curse. Low and behold, it happened earlier than expected. The return of Carlos Beltran was quite premature, in my opinion. I was there on the road, that Saturday to witness my Mets in San Francisco. They lost terribly that day, so bad that for the first time, I left a Mets game early. I didn't think that the entire road trip would turn out THAT bad. But it did. August rolls on in and through each game, I sat front and center to witness the collapse of a team that had all the talent in the world to be in contention of the postseason. But it's too late now. The last day of August. Not a Mets fan who is in their right mind, believe in the team anymore. Fans gave up after the road trip out west. But I still believed. Only to find it disappointing that the team cannot capitalize on ANYTHING. Whether it'd be bases loaded, a runner on third...the mere possibility of winning a game that was theirs to be won...only, Jerry pulls the starting pitcher out at the wrong time and puts in the wrong bullpen pitcher. Whatever the case may be, the season is LOST and my greatest concern is what are they gonna do about MGMT? The team has talent, but where is the passion and fire? Where is the consistency? Where's the motivation? The fans deserve a fighting team, not one that gives up so easily. I'm disappointed that it is the 4th consecutive year that the Mets cannot get their acts together. The team IS in shambles and I wonder deep in thought, what is the solution? Get rid of EVERYONE and start over? I'd like to BELIEVE but seeing the Braves play, I really feel like clapping my hands cuz they are RED hot and they're running away with the division title. I'm not gonna ever root for them, but just see how the team plays...they capitalize on errors we make and they hit grand slams! Not to mention, they do really well in the late innings. So what is it that the Mets are doing right now, that cannot be done just the same earlier this season? How do you really explain the second half collapse? Well my theory is Carlos Beltran. If he never returned to the lineup on the road, the team had something going. They were in second place. Well anyway, this season is pointless and I hope that the Rays win it ALL. That's all I have to say.

Peace Out!
