I am impressed this week with the Mets! Grand Slam drought OVER and they're piling up runs like there's no tomorrow! I really want them to continue this as long as they can possible. It's HUGE and I'm always wondering why the mediocre players make the team so good! It was like that last year before Beltran returned during the SF series in July. Forget about Wright and Davis. Right now, we have this hotness going on and I don't want it to go away. They're exploding right now, with hits and winning games. I'm grateful that the Mets are shocking fans and I want them to reach 2nd place by AllStar Break if that is not asking for too much. I remember how many times I've watched a bases loaded inning and no grand slams. But to have 2 in one night in back to back innings, it's just phenomenal. I'm glad it was Jason Bay who hit it because he still has to prove himself to the team, he has to prove that he can hit a 20 hr season. Cuz I haven't seen that Jason yet. But I'm glad he broke the streak. As for Beltran, good for him too. I'm most impressed with the 2nd Basemen, Tejada & Murphy. They're alternating roles are awesome and they've come up big lately. Turner, too. Everyone is contributing and I still can't believe how many runs they've put up in the last few games.:) Overall, the team is heading in the right direction if they keep it consistent.

Almost Midseason
Let's face reality: the Mets right now is a .500 team and if they get anywhere close to the Wild Card, they'd be a surprise to all. The team is mediocre and unpredictable. In years past, we'd have a surging win streak/lose streak and you'd be able to tell what kind of team you're expecting. This year, perhaps I want to be in denial. With injuries and an uncertain future for many of our players, it's very unsettling. I'm hoping that this team can show the fans why we should care. I mean imagine if Wright, Reyes, Beltran, Davis, Bay and Pagan were at their prime and they were unstoppable? If Dickey can be last year's Dickey. If Gee can continue his wins despite one loss. If Santana comes back...If Pelfrey could be what I remembered him to be, the almost Ace when Santana went on the DL. I mean Niese and Capuano can win sometimes, but it's the support of runs, and the defense. The Mets can be powerful and not the laughingstock. I truly believe that they are capable. I'm just wondering what the hell happened that made them not live up to the standards they have known? The players know very well what is expected of them. But why isn't this lineup working? You got rid of the cancerous Oliver Perez and Luis Castillo. They sure as hell contributed to the Mets losing ways, but look at the team now. Why? Lately, they've proved that they can hit. But the people that I least expect to fill those roles, are the people I give credit to. Jose Reyes is the only person that really shows that he wants to win and he plays hard. He is proving himself to be really valuable and an asset. Can we really backtrack and say we signed a bad contract in Jason Bay? He used to hit more homers and he hasn't done much for us. Perhaps we should trade for a new lineup, and just keep Jose. I don't know if talent on the team means much when the talent is not showcased. When and if the Mets ever get 10 games over .500, I'll believe in miracles. They're playing average baseball and they should be better than this. But I'll take their wins and appreciate when they make me smile. But it's almost midseason...it's time to really make these games count. Every one of them. :)

State of the Mets
I'm not nearly as frustrated as I was at the start of the season when the Mets were in last place. The past few weeks, the Mets really did put up a lot of runs and are doing decently winning games. I'm not totally convinced that they're gonna pull out all the stops to at least second place...why? They're missing Ike Davis, David Wright and a dependable bullpen. I wonder how is it that when Ike & David go on the DL, that the replacements do a good job and when Ike & David return to the lineup, everyone else stinks and they go on their dry spells? Whatever it is. The team has to fix it. I do believe that someone has to go in the starting lineup. If they're all healthy, but they're not hitting, why? It makes no sense that they all do poorly at the same time. Look at Reyes now. He's so on a hot streak and any team would be lucky to have him if the Mets can't keep him. I'd be really upset because he sparks every time he hits, triples, steals bases and inspires the other players. Ok, a lot of times, the bullpen ruins a great pitching game. I just wonder what would it take for the Mets to make it back to the playoffs. The Mets are near .500 and they play Atlanta next...they can gain some ground if they win....The team has potential, but the fans are not buying into it. We just smile when they win but hope is all for the next season. No one truly believes that the Mets can get to the playoffs. But as a die hard fan, I'll watch every game as much as I can, hoping that a miracle will be played out this season. The fact that the team has not had a grand slam for almost two years, is shocking. I wait for that day when they break the grand slam slump. Anyway, the Mets aer not too far out at this time. We shouldn't count them out unless they are more than 10 games behind in September...
